With Allison Dey, Blue Belt Instructor and MMI Studio Owner. Suitable for new and veteran Nia students alike!

New to Nia?  Join us for an introductory class and get your questions like "What is Nia, what's all the buzz about, and what do we do?" questions answered.  This class covers a new routine and the ability to learn the basic steps at your own pace and without music.  The Intro-class is followed by the regularly scheduled Nia clas where you will dance the moves with the music.
NIA:    10:00-11:00 a.m. Nia (regularly scheduled) Class.

Gentle Nia

With Heidi
Are you needing to treat your body gently, yet longing to move to music? Come experience the magic of dancing to beautiful music while maintaining a sense of safety, awareness, and delight. Gentle Nia helps you increase and sustain the pleasure and health you feel as you move across the dance floor and on through your day. We will focus on how to strengthen the core of the body so as to be able to extend outward safely. This is a class for any body, whether you are new to Nia, or a Nia "regular." Drop-ins welcome!

About Allison

Allison Dey, Founder of Nia PT.

Allison Dey, founder of Nia PT and co-founder of the Madrona MindBody Institute, first discovered Nia in 1997, while living near the Bainbridge Island Nia community.

She fell in love with the varied movement from dance, martial arts and the healing arts (the soft energy of wagging her tail and the warrior energy of tae kwon do punches and kicks). As well as the inspiring music, learning the form (the 52 moves), and the freedom of freedancing.

allison-revolve1.gifAfter each class, Allison felt alive and rejuvenated. She liked the attention on the health of the body, emotions, mind and spirit and the education from her Nia teacher.

She also liked the invitation to find her voice through sounding, vocalizing and the community of Nia students of all fitness levels and ages (there was a 92 year old active Nia student!). Allison continued practicing Nia even through her first pregnancy.

Allison is convinced that Nia is a form of movement that is literally for every body, young and old, women and men, low fitness levels and athletes.

Allison is a blue belt Nia instructor and teaches many of the Nia PT classes listed on the local class schedule.
